Time to awaken King Kong.

I watched ‘Into the Wild’ five times. I couldn’t get enough of it because of how rich the story was. It’s always awesome to read your words of wisdom Chris!

Hey Chris!
Thanks for yet another deep and heartfelt post!
I loved what Christopher McCandless did (or at least what I read in Into the Wild). He truly didn’t give a fuck about the “real world” and just put his soul in the drivers seat. I strive to do the same every day… as hard as it can be sometimes.. between all the shit that piles up on our to do lists..
Every time I read a post of yours I feel so inspired. You’ve inspired me to create my own blog about life and positive progression and focus more on the things I am passionate about.. Thank you!
“There’s some straight up awesome stuff you can add to this world that NO ONE else can do in quite the unique and amazing way you can”
This is true of every individual – everyone has a unique perspective and experiences. They shape us and help us grow.
Keep sharing yours!

Hey thanks Zac, super happy I inspired you with your blog, this is good news (=
ReplyChris this post is awesome…. it is also exactly what I needed to hear right now.
Get caught up in so much of this s*&t and forget who I truly am underneath and deep down.
Thank you

Another good one Chris.. the only thing is that first you’re saying don’t get caught up with the social media etc. and then at the end tell us to click the share button!
Did it anyway though 🙂
All my best,

Great post Chris. I’ve been on a similar wavelength of late – looking at social media, information management, to-do lists & expectations. My views and beliefs are rapidly changing with respect to those avenues. I’ve found that I’m accomplishing more by setting out to do less – and yes, that sounds funny because by definition it should be true. But a lengthy to-do list is a real stressor for me and I end up avoiding or procrastinating – totally paralyzed by how much I need to do. By picking a few important items and completing those I gain confidence & steam to do more – jumping into other “to-do” stuff – hence the accomplishing more. I know a lot of people smarter than me figured this out long ago but we all need the light bulb to go off in our own heads. Hand & hand with that is I’m following less information – not scanning Facebook to see what my friends are doing, who has what shiny new toys, who is complaining about X, Y & Z – I’m not reading a million blogs or searching Twitter for new information. I’m getting out there and doing more. It makes for a much happier lifestyle. But enough about me dude – thanks again for posting this – loved reading your take on this all.

Hey Right on Andy, I can relate 100%
I’ve been OWNED by to-do lists, that’s not how life is meant to be lived

I love this Chris.
It’s so easy to get lost in this whirlwind called life.
So many people go through life unhappy even if they have all kinds of ‘stuff’ because none of it is what they really want.
They don’t have what they really want because they don’t know what they really want.
And, they don’t know what they really want because they just don’t know who they really are.
They think they’re all those labels like their job, their name, their titles and all that.
That’s just the role we play…The great illusion…
If we would just stop focusing on all the shit that doesn’t matter and stop worrying about what other people think.
Just get to know who we really are and be ourselves…that’s where all the peace and happiness reside 🙂
Thanks for speaking the truth Chris!

ReplyBig Chris,
This is BY FAR the best I’ve ever read from you, Man. EPIC!!!
“Too many screens and not enough heart.”
“Go against the grain and do something great today.”
Those two sentences pretty much sum up where life has gotten to and where it needs to get back to.
Thank you! A great way to kick off the week!

“Do do do

No goals, no agendas, no motives, no plans, no fucking Facebook
Just Being”

Hey thanks Matt, that sure is a big compliment, I’ll make sure it doesn’t go to my head (=
means a lot, thanks brother
ReplyThis is how I felt year two into owning my business and I purposely went on “personal quests” to quiet the Jekyll side of things, and nourish my soul. Some people didn’t get it, but they were seduced by all the distractions thinking that they were bettering themselves.
I truly miss my home island in the sense that whenever I needed to escape to a private section of the beach, and just lay there listening to the wind blowing through the trees, listening to the waves break, feeling the sun, and just taking in all of the beauty of an island in order to escape and dream.
Ironic thing is that once I started pursuing my dream it in someway took me away from the “dreamer” state and it became a challenge to unplug.
This is where strategic lock-outs, meditation, and tending to my warrior soul became crucial. Finding meditative technologies such as Centerpointe and Silva have helped when I can’t get away to nature.
Thanks for the great post once again Chris!
Reply
hey thanks Rommel… man I do a lot of that same stuff, the beach is one of my faves
follow your dream brother (=
ReplyIt’s all just a story made up in our heads, the past is over only the memory lives on in our head and we created the memory, like a Movie on the big screen we created and stared in every part.
It’s not really you’re Dad/Mom/Friend in your head it’s you like a character in a novel those people/things in your memories can only do/act/say/be whatever you have them do. If you don’t like it then change what they do in your head and then smile and act surprised when you meet them in the “real” world and they are suddenly a completely different person.
That’s the illusion or Maya of life, now I’m off to my rock on the hill to sit with the sun, watch my dogs and kiss my wife, nothing to buy or sell up there ;-))
Look at what the masses are doing and run screaming the other way…Stuart Wilde
Thanks for inspiration Chris and reminding me that I didn’t workout today

Hey Chris,
From now on, I’ll call you Big Dr. Chris 🙂 I was feeling very bad, because I lost my job and it’s damn hard to find another one so quickly.
After reading your post, I feel great and released; I fucking hated my job and my boss, anyway. From now on, I’m free to follow the true Me.
Peace,

“We reach for rungs on the social ladder… but this ladder, is leaning against the wrong wall” I really liked how you said this, brilliant! An incredibly inspiring post my friend, I really enjoyed reading it and I absolutely love your style of writing.
My favorite quote from the Warrior post was: “The Warrior resides in the deep still waters, no matter how choppy the waters on the surface may be, the deep waters are always still” I was very happy when I saw you re-visited this because it has been in my head every since I read it, such a beautiful and real way to think. I love how connected to nature you are and how you have a deep understanding of the true nature of life.
It is always amazing to me to hear from someone who has been financially successful in life but can see things for what they really are instead of getting caught up in the “shallow illusion” It seems there is sooo much pressure in life to get rich, go to college, get a good job etc. that people completely lose sight of who they really are, and end up missing the best things in life. No stopping to smell the roses when money is your god.
When I come across someone like you I realize there is still hope for the world, and my heart is deeply saddened by the fact that the vast majority of people are so blind and living lives so materialistically. Lost in a superficial dream that never really leads to bliss.
Thank you for continuing to spread the light and truth, I know your blog will make a difference in the lives of those who come across it.

ReplyI don’t know how I landed here. I know nothing about blogging (time to learn I guess).
What I do know is that truth and honesty are finally being accepted and even heralded in these times of mass deception.
You don’t have to be ONE THING. You can (and are) many things and its nice to see some one embracing their branding as such.
Great post Chris. Glad I found it.

Yes, wise words there Ward
thanks for sharing man, glad you liked the post, and welcome to the crazy world of blogs
ReplyAwesome blog, Big Chris!! SO MANY times, I have pushed the envelope to get a reaction or not because I just wanted to BE, and that is something so many people forget to do. BE true to ourselves, and in that, we will be true to others and inspire them OR possibly not, but who cares as long as we are just being Real. I love the adventure “Into the Wild.” I have encouraged my children to follow their longings – they have and they still have turned out very alright. I pretty much liken myself to modeling the Velveteen Rabbit. People look at me and expect me to behave a certain way, and when I feel those kind of expectations, that is when I rebel and instantly go into my Velveteen Rabbit mode. Love me or love me not – it really doesn’t matter. As long as I love myself by being true to myself.

ReplyThank you sir. I have been able to take something from each thing I have read from you, but this one….I feel like I was in a deep sleep and you just threw a bucket of ice water on me brother. I am not ashamed to admit tears were rolling down my cheeks by the time I finished reading this. I have been mired in complacency for so long I barely remember another way. Working at a job I hate where I, and all the other hard working employees, are treated like worthless expendable chattel for the “safety” of a regular paycheck. Things start changing today. I am getting my life back in order. Thank you again for your words, and please do not ever stop.
ReplyI just got time time away from my To Do List to read your blog:-)
Your shit is always brilliant! I read a lot of blogs and articles, but no shit, this is my absolute favorite.
You asked me why I am moving to Wyoming in the middle of nowhere, where my kids can actually enjoy nature.
You nailed it in this post. Talk to you soon brother, keep up the good work.

I had to share this great poem-maybe it will remind somebody who reads it to look at the backseat and find again his forgotten soul.
